Earlier this evening I had to attend Maybelline’s 100th Anniversary Event for work purposes. To be honest, I’m not really into events because it involves socializing. (unleash the inner cat-lady)
Anyway, this particular event was different though because they showcased the evolution of makeup beginning from the 1920’s all the way to the supposed future. It’s funny how makeup is portrayed in the future because heavy face-jewelry and funky looking hair were the main focus (it was heavily inspired by Givenchy’s recent Fall runway fashion show).
My partner highlighted that over the years, the use of color in our everyday makeup looks has significantly decreased over the years, and I found that quite interesting. Why is that? Why have we stopped incorporating colors in our makeup looks?
Since the event encouraged attendees to dress their best based on their favorite era, I went with a subtle 60s look (minus the heavy eyes because I got ready at the last minute as usual). I think nude lipstick has to be one of my go-to products if I wanted to achieve a classy look.
